Cattapan in Timor Leste

In July of 2008 Jon Cattapan travelled to Timor Leste as an official artist for the Australian War Memorial. He went to Dili first, then Gleno, Maliana, Bacau and Vecquecque - 'choppers make for a great viewing of the topography'. He executed drawings and weatercolours as a response of the experience. He also took many digital images through night vision goggles which informed the paintings he made as a response to his experience.
